Do you believe Christians really "love god"?

After thinking about this for a while, I basically concluded that Christians don't love god anymore than a child really loves santa clause or fears the boogie monster. I think the Christian god is a joke and they don't "love" god because it's all lipservice to get into heaven. Would they still be a Christian if there wasn't a heaven? Obviously not. And would many still be a Christian if there wasn't the threat of torture hanging over their heads? No. Has anyone else drawn this conclusion? I think if you're a Christian and you really examine yourself honestly, I think you would find this is the truth. It's all about rewards and punishments. God is a means, not an end. His character is despicable, but he can give you presents like santa, so people will pay him lipservice for doing so.
