Transsexual people: what do you think of the fact that your gender identity is classified as a disorder?

Being gay used to be classified as a mental disorder too. Things change. There aren't any reputable doctors who think transsexualism is really just a mental problem. The current classification is out of date, and based on speculation. More recent studies show gender identity corresponds to brain structure, and the DSM is slowly changing to reflect that. As more is learned about transsexualism, and old bigotries are shaken off, people will begin to realize we aren't just crazy or weird, and this is actually a birth defect.
