How to fix wii remote light saber?

I was playing "lightsaber" with my little cousin and we were just whacking each other and whatever then I hit his lightsaber wii remote (Those things you attach to the wii remote) and the plastic thing popped off. Now he's demanding that I buy him a new one (Of his choice) or give him like $20-$50. Ridiculous. Anyway, is there any way I can fix it? I told him to duct tape it but he says it'll pop off and it won't work, etc.
